The Slenderverse

(A tribute page)

The true force that set the domino race in motion was the discovery of Marble Hornets. That is what led me to The Slenderverse. No community has stayed with me like it has.

I want this page to chronicle my appreciation for this recent art movement. A Lot of what I’ve thought over the years to convey have been said well by the recent Alex Hera Documentaries. But I figured Ill give my own words a chance to be heard. I think fans of the slenderverse, for the most part, aren’t in on it for the main monster at hand, rather the characters and the situation so many of them share. Past the crappy cameras, the perhaps bad acting, the same monster, lies artists with a fevering passion and admiration for a way of telling a story. If you look at the big slender-seires, you will find dedication that lasted many years until the closing episodes. A good example of this is EverymanHYBRID. The total length it took the creators to tell the full story was 8 years. EIGHT YEARS. Now thats definitely worth some admiration and praise, at least worth a mention.

So far, over the years, I've watched:

Tribetwelve - Darkharvest00 - MLAndersen0 - Stan Fredrick - WhisperedFaith - CaughtNotSleeping - OneHundredYardStare (In that order, chronologically)

My Reviews

Tribetwelve - It's been a few years since I last watched this seires back to back, but what sticks out in my mind as noteworthy is the impressive effects, good humour and great story. Highly reccomend.

Darkharvest00 - Very haunting. An eerie depiction of the Slenderman, with a cult to boot. What I liked most from this seires was the impressive setup of scenes. The Overseer has a very fitting voice! HIGHLY reccomend.

MLAndersen0 - Nice acting, does well with what it has, interesting lore regarding "the clock hands". Reccomend it.

Stan Fredrick - Cool idea to have a guy deal with people like patients, going around the slenderverse, but I think this seires was okay.

WhisperedFaith - If I had a nickel for everytime the cult thing was used in the slenderverse, I'd have quite a few nickels (from what I know). Despite the cult idea already done by other seires, WhisperedFaith sets itself apart by making use of the rake. I liked the otherworldly parts. Recommend.

CaughtNotSleeping - Very underrated. This seires could have gone somewhere great, but what we have of it in the later entries blows me away. A hidden gem. As for the editing, not much to say here by the main channel, but the videos posted by RoivasSevil and "The Helper" are really cool. At the start, they both are the "totheark" to the main character, Caught. But despite that, over time they both grew on me as I could sense the worldbuilding they were doing. I like some of the editing on the main channel too, though! The episode with CGI blew me away! The story is really really really confusing. Kind of works well like that though. I enjoyed the part when Caught gets kidnapped by The Helper and then becomes free. Now that was something! Also, I enjoyed the overall grainyness and tight spaces used, adds alot of ominous weirdness.

OneHundredYardStare - Overall, the things I liked most was the editing/method of storytelling. Reminds me alot of ECKVA / CL44 because of it. Even with distortion being a trope used in all seires in some form, I found this one's use of it to be really cool. After awhile though it did get annoying when I was trying to get details on the story. With this video-blog only consisting of around thirty videos, and with most of the videos being short, It felt much less cohesive. The whole "Infection" thing (very creative naming by the way) felt very akin to Alex Kralie's character from Marble Hornets.
